One of my mentees likes Cowboy Bebop! Sweet.

I got a new cell phone, I got a new cell phone! It’s a Sprint PCS equipped with a deal that gives me free minutes after 9p and on weekends, so yeah, let me call you guys since we miss each other so much! Email phone numbers this way. I’ll email you my number too.

I hope Leeann has an awesome trip…

And just to note, the only reason for late night posting tonight was due to Mudd Run. I took a 2 hour nap on the Wilbur couch after filling water balloons, then ambushed Mudd Freshmen. Yay.

Wow. Thank God for peer mentor training. I was surprised at how much I used for today. Incredible that that stuff came in handy. And the first-years are great; I love my mentees! ‘Course, we knew that would happen :)

Today didn’t end…

Not only do I get up at 6a tomorrow, I have to be at orientation in a PERKY mood, so I better make this quick as it’s almost 2a.

And I’m up because we finished the dorm decorations at 12a (they look GREAT!) and then I checked my email just now only to get hoardes of letters about the voice (we put up fliers today and I was quite surprised at the response…and here DeEttra was saying this morning that Scrippsies have grown to ignore those 8×11 fliers around campus…). So, that’s the good news.

And there are no bad news. Except that I’ll need loads of caffeine tomorrow. Eh, oh well. I just feel guilty because our president made a beautiful speech at the Leadership Dinner today about how emotional tomorrow will be. She made me cry. And she made Jenny cry. Then Arathi dropped her fork. Then Priya laughed because Priya is weird.

my alarm didn’t go off today so Christina came into the suite and woke me up half an hour into the first meeting…d’oh.

Speaking of the suite, the lounge has officially become “the Office” where we’re doing all our decorations. It is a royal mess but will luckily be clean by Thursday or Friday, depending on when I have free time to vacuum. And by royal mess, I mean trashed. Probably the worst it’ll look this year, but I think that’s a good thing. When you and your suitees consider a royal mess to just be paper and colored pencils strewn everywhere and not beer cans and empty potato chip bags, that is definately a plus in your housing arrangement.

Today we went to a minor league baseball team. The mascot attacked us with silly string, made the R.A.’s dance on the field, but we did our damage by royally embarrassing a hot Short Stop player and shouting out all sorts of crazy cheers. My voice is hoarse but we had a great time. Weather is awful. Wish you were here.

So, we were in a lip sync contest, and our group decided that the best way to pass off as looking coordinated would be by stripping down to our bikinnis. We figured we were in a women’s college and could get away with it (though there were a few boys in the audience coming over from the other colleges). But yes, we did it anyway, we got tons of cheering, and it was hilarious! We weren’t the only permiscious performance–our dean wore a Madonna bra and lip sang, “Like a Virgin.” There were more, so many more, all of which were equally great. I wish you all were there!

Funny how small groups mean lots of bonding, even if you’ve never known the people before the group formed. The people in my Peer Mentor team are so awesome, and it’s strange because we were totally not found hanging out with each other around campus last year. There are only three of us making up the Wilbur/Kimberly team, meaning three people to decorate a hall housing 101 students (compare that to the GJ-W team with six people to decorate a hall of only 86). However, our decorations are tactful, our gifts to our first-years are beautiful, and our song for our lip sync contest will be hilarious, thanks largely to Jenny. So yeah, life is good for a Peer Mentor when these three things are going well and it’s only Sunday night (the deadline to have all three things done is Wednesday night).

These past few nights we have been driving down Foothill and Arrow Highway, and I have noticed L.A.’s lights at night for the first time. Tucson compared to L.A. at night is quite different–in Tucson, the skies are dark and the lights look like Christmas lights. But in L.A. the lights go on FOREVER AND EVER, it seems. Considering I’m 35 miles east of L.A. and the lights go straight on to the coast, it’s quite a bit of lights…like Tucson, except much, much more vast. Like a sea…and of course the skies are not dark but kind of orange (gross).

Today we had Diversity Training. I must say, it was a very good experience, and it left me very enlightened. I also had a lot of bonding moments with other people in the overall Peer Mentor group.

Well, I better go as I have to set the alarm to call that James character for scheduling an interview. Oh what fun this week will be!

Yay! Peer Mentor training is fun! Today we went to the beach and played some bonding games. And this evening we worked on dorm decorations for Kimberly/Wilbur. We have selected a theme but I don’t think I should tell you guys on this blog because Scrippsies read this, and I might spoil the surprise! However, should you ask either via email or AIM I’ll be happy to share with you (unless you’re a Scrippsie). And especially unless your name is Lisa, because both Lisas I know will be living in Kimberly…

I’m sleepy. Night all.

well, as I still have stuff to finish for tonight, here is a two sentence post for you. I mean it: who would have thought Peer Mentoring and being an editor-in-chief would be so busy?
