September 30, 2003 on 12:38 am | In Blogger | No CommentsLots of work to do, but I guess I’ll just keep slogging through it. We’re all feeling it, so at least I don’t feel like I’m the only one. Stupid midterms.
The voice came out today, and it looks pretty good, though guess what! We stupidly forgot to reset the DPI resolution to 600 dpi before going to the printer, so it printed very dark. How silly of me, I was the DPI Nazi on the Palantir.
Strange–Emily and I just exchanged diaries. Not really just for reading, just for viewing (though we did show each other a few personal entries). I guess it was a bonding experience.
I got an A on my art project for value, which surprised me a lot–she actually liked my craptacular background. Professor Cho is awesome though.

September 28, 2003 on 11:27 pm | In Blogger | No CommentsChris and Mark are no longer calling me the Cookie Monster, because I teased them for teasing me about it from when I was a freshman, little ickle Talya-kins running down Scripps only to be called the Cookie Monster by two bully sophomore Mudders. I’m glad they laid off of that. Crazy goons. Church was really special though, ’cause a baby named David got baptized, and we all knew him since he was a protuberance in his mother’s stomach. So, that was really special for the community.
A lot of time went into reading up for the Core paper due next week. I didn’t get much writing done though :sigh: It’s so frustrating when that happens. Maybe tomorrow morning it’ll make more sense. I still haven’t done Spanish. Damn. And I thought that was my procrastination homework.
Sleep. Now.

September 28, 2003 on 3:11 am | In Blogger | No CommentsI’ve been listening to a new Guster CD Merriam let me burn. It is quite awesome, called “Gone and Forever.”
We had a lazy morning, stayed in our pajamas until 12p. Betty disappeared. That was funny. But we called her cell and she was just fine, at home though.
I have a linear algebra take-home exam that he estimates will take us 10 hours. We’re getting it next weekend, so that means I’ve been working pretty hard on studying it so that it doesn’t really take me 10 hours (he said ideally it should only take 2 or 3, but he knows we like to obssess). :sigh: remind me not to take a CMC class again.
It’s kind of ironic how in Core I’m writing a paper about anonymity in light of recent events, but whatever. I enjoy this paper, it helps me reflect.
Kevin and I watched The Emperor’s New Groove because he had never seen it and everyone needs to see that movie. He liked it, particularly the old man who says, “beware the groove!” Heh, good times. Good, good times.
We had an LHC meeting and much discussion about certain club duties ensued.

September 26, 2003 on 12:29 am | In Blogger | No Commentsthe voice is hilarious. My editors are acting rather crazy-funny. Priya and I keep beating each other up.
If this year doesn’t kill me it’s going to be great.

September 24, 2003 on 11:57 pm | In Blogger | No CommentsOh, lord, I can’t remember last time I laughed so hard. Earlier today at College Council election, I wrote in a few prank nominations for my ballot, nominating, among others, my suitees, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Krusty the Klown.
Mandy and Emily both won for whatever I nominated them for.
voice deadline is actually not that bad. We’re getting things done, so I’m happy about that. We got a new advisor as well, and while I know I’m going to miss Par a lot, the new one seems cool, too. So, I guess the voice is in good hands….
How are you?
By the way, has anyone seen Googlism yet? Apparently I am a first.

September 24, 2003 on 12:04 am | In Blogger | No CommentsMy goal for tonight is eight hours of sleep so I am rested enough for DEADLINE TOMORROW! Yahoo it’s going to be crazy. But it’s going to be fun.
I am beginning to understand Mrs. Zeiher’s words about a small liberal arts college. So fucking true…
We had a Core quiz today, and I think I did all right on it.
I had a beaurocrat encounter today with campus security. First, I found out I need to register my bike or get it sold at an auction. As the front wheel to my bike has a flat, I hardly ever use it, so whatever. But then I didn’t want to get it auctioned off, which is the doom of unregistered bikes here. So I go to campus security and they say it costs four dollars in dollar bills and no change to register the damn thing. And I asked if they take checks and they said no. So I said I’d just pick up a paper now and fill it out. The lady said, “it’s quite extensive” and handed me the littlest sheet of paper, ever. It was an eighth of a page–quite amusing.
So, a week later and Neil gives me change in dollar bills, so I happily go to campus security after filling out everything. And when I got there the serial number, which I left blank, had to be filled out. So I said, “fine..” and before I could say anything they proceeded to give me a chart showing where the serial number will be. So I say, “well, can I just get the licence now and call in my serial number to save me another trip across campus?” and they said, “no.” And I said, “well THAT’S beaurocratic,” and I stormed off. Fucking beaurocrats.
By the way, Neil got an award for his photography–go to www.minoltausa.com to view (look for Caitlin).

September 22, 2003 on 11:26 pm | In Blogger | No CommentsThe workload is finally picking up. Oh, am I ever glad I dropped that physics class. The voice is also awfully busy; it’s sooo easy to fill those required 10 hours per week. I had a test in Spanish…oi. And I’m tired. Oh, so tired. Need sleep. Sleep now. With the fire.
Let’s think of something positive to post–the voice is looking awesome! And peer mentoring is going great; I still see my mentees pretty often and we hang out and stuff. In Art we watched the most awesome video with an animator by the name of William Kentridge. He was really, really neat.

September 21, 2003 on 11:51 pm | In Blogger | No CommentsI still can’t believe that for all the procrastinating I did all weekend, I still managed to get my homework done before midnight. This is a miracle. I had a Spanish test to study for, a voice article to write, an art project to complete, Linear Algebra homework, a Core paper (due Tuesday, so I’ll work on that tomorrow night, I guess), and some reading I just remembered I had. Oh yeah. Eh, it’s not due until Tuesday, I’ll do it tomorrow.
I love college.
We had another LHC meeting tonight! Best club EVER. Priya and I also conducted a 2.5 hour session to teach our editors and assistant editors Pagemaker and basic design principles for the voice. I brought my old Palantir scrapbook and gleefully used my old pages for the “do’s” of design and Nicole’s old pages for the “don’ts” :P
I feel badly; I bored even myself at times while teaching Pagemaker, but like Mandy said, it was all useful and we’ll be happy it’s done now and not later. We also conducted a bonding session at dinner.
I did too much sitting today. Maybe tomorrow I’ll exercise…somewhere in the day.
