Two things I hate about AIM on the computer in my room, which my mom uses:

1. I leave up an away message, go out, and always find the computer off when I return. Grrr.
2. Whenever Outlook Express launches it automatically logs me online for some reason. So my mom will go check her email and accidently sign on as me. Today for example I was at work and Mom went to check her email and Stephy IMed me and was quite surprised to be talking to my mom instead. I should probably fix this problem, as my mom wants to know why everytime she checks her email she gets about 5 new windows popping up. Grrrr!

So, yes, should you be wondering about those two mysteries, that is why Talya will randomly sign off and/or randomly sign on at unlikely points in the day.

New Year’s Eve was fun…yay for Stephy and Tashi and Freddie ~_~ And other random people, i.e. Tim and Gurgie and Joe and Stacey. Happy 2004 all, and I hope you made the best of 2003!

Not fair. Joey got to go on stage at Skrappy’s and sing onstage with Himsa tonight. He also got all their autographs.

At work today was another horrid two hour rush. This time Ken, the district manager, was helping me out with the lines–quite intimidating, a Talya-Ken team going (Ken can’t upsell, btw–he got me two small drinks–grrr!!). It was a really large line though, and guess what–right in the middle of it, I was fixing another order when two deaf girls came, and they placed their order with Ken by writing something down on a piece of paper towel, which took him awhile to figure out why they needed to write to communicate. Then Ken was like, “Talya, ask them if they want butter on their popcorn.” And I signed, “asl?” to them, and they signed back, “yes,” so I signed if they want butter…then we basically ended up signing the rest of the order. I bring this up just because it was really funny to watch my boss’s jaw drop and be like, “how the hell does she know sign language?” Moments like these are golden, I guess~

This evening consisted of learning some phping and a bit of writing too…and right now, sleeping! Three aspects of Winter Break I like a lot.

Another 24 hours left of 2003!!

Haha, check out what Jillian just IMed me!

So, I always thought HTML was pretty darn cool, but PHP…even cooler, folks! And I’ve only just barely got introduced tonight thanks to Kevin, so, jollytimes.

This morning I played Chrono Trigger. Then we went to lunch at Yokohoma Rice Bowl. Then Joey and I went to coffee at Coffee XChange where we met Mr. Sabb, Sarah, Sean, Jessie, and Jeff. That was jollyfun; and we did a ton of catching up. Sarah, Joey, and I were there until about 5:30, so that’s like 2.5 hours of just talking to people! Wow! Awesome though, very awesome. Sabb wants me to come visit when class starts again at CDO, so that’ll be fun either next week or the week after, depending on what I’m up to.

After that we actually had dinner then went straight to a starparty! Sweet. Well, I guess it was more a hazeparty as we mostly watched haze grow over the atmosphere…but it was cool. Cold, rather. I was wearing two sweaters and my peacoat and was huddled under sleeping bags, but was still quite cold.

Then we came back and played card games, and Sarah made it for that part (she was going to the starparty but then couldn’t get her car! d’oh). So, that was jolly… I heart Joey, John, Sean, Sarah, and Tom!

At work today was a two hour rush in which people didn’t stop coming and I lost my voice in the process and also did not get a break, meaning a seven and a half hour shift without even getting to get a drink of water or go to the bathroom. At least I’m almost over my cold, just got a dry cough that’ll probably clear up soon. Yay for echinacea ~_~

Tonight Joey and I (Brian ended up not going, as he fell off a mountainside) went to the Animation Show down at the Loft. It was SOOO good, very artsy and totally my kind of thing. The Japanese and Swiss shows were really cool because of the animation set-up–they were like animated paintings, particularly the Swiss one which was done on acrillyc paint. I also liked “50 Percent Gray” and “Das Rad” and “Katedra.” “Strange Invaders” and “Indent” were kind of weird. Joey’s favorite was “Parking”…and hahaha, I’m going to be laughing hard over that kid, Ricardo for awhile…omg, that fest was the best, ever, listen to me raving over it. When “Rejected” came on, Joey and I cheered really loudly, then we heard people laughing really hard over it in the audience, and we were like, “right on.”

Afterwards we went to Starbucks and ran into Brian (not the Brian who fell off a mountainside) and Nick and Brad, and we ended up going to Brad’s house in Marana, and we had a jollytime. So, yay for that.

Joey took me to lunch at this Cajun restaurant. It was quite tasty. Afterwards we went to JC Penny and Best Buy to return stuff. And it was at JC Penny that I came to a revelation. All Americans have the creativity to do these days is shop, go to movies, and eat out. It’s kind of sad, growing up in somewhere as exotic as Tucson where hiking is great, that even here all people do is shop, go to movies, and eat out. I wish Americans were more creative.

Blah, the movie theater has consumed my life. I get one day off this week, but at least it’s Monday, so that’s coming up. And I’m also not sure what my hours are for the weekend after…but who cares, I’m DONE on the fourth! The best part about working at a job for two weeks is, it’s like putting in your two weeks the second you walk in the door.

Today though, I had an usher shift. That’s the easiest shift ever–you just stand in the back of theaters and watch the last 20 minutes of films. So yeah, as an fyi, Cold Mountain looks like Titanic set in the Civil War, Peter Pan looks pretty bad, Something’s Got To Give looks pretty good, Cheaper By the Dozen looks cute, and as for ROTK, I have clocked the ending (the ending being from when Frodo wakes up to the credits, not to when at the end of the credits when there’s a sketch of the One Ring), and it’s a whopping 35 minutes. Unfortunately, however, I have now seen the endings to all these movies several times each now and thus have no desire to sit through any of them. So, screw that.

Tomorrow Joey, Brian, and I were going to go to this Don Hertzfeldt/Mike Judge animation fest, so I guess the starparty should happen Monday then? Eh, we’ll figure it out. Love ya guys!

:cough:

I love this fresh, brisk air, btw. There was rain that I woke up to, and then it just left the rest of the day fresh and beautiful, and I love it so much.

I heart Leelee.

Adam at work has to be the biggest dork I’ve met. Every time he passes me, he’s like, “Yes, ma’am“…and at first it was funny, but I think now he needs to stop that. I don’t think he likes the way I ignore him.

Hmm not much else to report. Too bad Breelee and Leelee are leaving…the rest of us will have to find time to play this week, eh? Eskay said he’d like to do a starparty…what do you guys say to Sunday night? Email or IM me!

Hmm…it’s 1:32 in the morning. Jerry’s calling. I think I’ll go write.

Sweet! I just checked my online grades and got an A- in Linear Algebra (you guys were all blogging about your grades and got me curious). I got an A in Core too…don’t know about the other ones since they’re in progress, though I did pass Lindy Hop! Whoohoo.

I think I made the best of Christmas…slept in, said bye to Eva (who was homesick and cried), went to Auntie Angela’s, went to work and was too jolly to let people get to me…and now I’m here and am about to take a NyQuill! Yay.

My grandma is quite ill and might be dying…I didn’t want to say anything because she tends to get a little dramatic whenever she’s not feeling well, but I guess this time it might not be very good, since she’s been in the hospital for awhile now…we want to put her in a nursing home but you know how these old people can be stubborn. I just hope she’s better than it sounds, and that she doesn’t drive my dad nuts (even though that seems to be the case now).

But yeh, I am very full of Christmas cheer and am definately drunk on life right now. Christmas fills one’s soul. Merry Christmas to one and all!

Christmas Eve! I actually like Christmas Eve better than Christmas…the anticipation of an event is better than the event itself, imo.

This morning I slept in, then the family took me to lunch at New Peking. Then I went to work, which was actually pretty fun because the shift was so short but everyone was in a good mood, ready for the holidays.

After work we went to midnight mass, which was actually at 8p. Every year we go to this Latin Mass down in the boonies, and it’s always pretty nice–though, as Ernie said, rather oldskool Catholic (after all, it was in Latin). When you take communion at those kind of masses, it’s customary to go up to the alter and kneel, then the priest puts the bread in your mouth while an alter boy “spots” the bread with this metal plate thingy that goes under your mouth (I guess it’s for should you drool or should the priest miss). Well, when it was my turn, just before kneeling, the priest ran out of bread and went to get more, but he didn’t tell me that (I don’t think he could’ve as, like I said, the mass was done in Latin). So, at first I stood there and looked at the alter boy helplessly, who shrugged, so I kind of kneeled uncertainly next to this rather oldish lady, who also kneeled, and we sat there for awhile until the priest came back with more bread, but I guess my family thought it was funny because they teased me after the matter.

After that we had a feast in which we all got a little tipsy and made very promiscuous remarks about Uncle Chuck’s/Ernie’s sausages (please don’t ask). Then, since Eva and Ernie are leaving tomorrow around 9a or 10a, we went ahead and opened presents. My main present was a watch, except my parents lost it, lol…but we found it eventually…another funny story I’ll have to tell you about, should I get the energy.

But yeh, I hope you all have AWESOME holidays and get some time in with your families and whatnot–once again, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Sick as a brick. Sick as a hick. Sick as a kick. Sick as a…nevermind.

I’m not that sick, I just like rhymming things. So yay for that.

I baked cookies tonight. I thought they tasted nasty, but Joey said they were good, but I still added more sugar to them and more vanilla and then they were most delicious. Jollytimes.

It’s been Christmas Eve for two hours and I hadn’t realized it! Yay for that.

Here we go again with the “work was boring, stupid, dumb” posts! Haha…the first two hours of my shift, they somehow couldn’t get me on the computer, so I just made cotton candy because there was nothing else I could do. Then the second two hours, Doug and I just chilled the entire time…he was like, “so, have you seen the new smoothie machines?” and I said, “no!” so he showed me how to work the new smoothie machines, and we of course had to eat what we made, so we sat in the back and had some jolly catch-up time while eating the company’s smoothies. Then Keli came in and I did some catch-up time with her, then I did some catch-up time with Phil, Colette, Dan, Michelle, Danielle…the old gang. I sometimes amaze myself with how easily I fit in from group to group…in the span of the week I went from the Claremont crowd where everyone is so brilliant and great, to the Loew’s crowd where everyone is so friendly and…drunk. I think I like Claremont better, lol, but it’s always great to go back to a place where you’re loved and where you’re considered the smart/awesome one who still holds the national record for that damn cart, and who has surpassed basic algebra in school.

After work the gang went for a swim in Andy’s 97 degree pool! High living…except the girls didn’t have any bathing suits, so we went in Andy-clothes. Hilarious. I don’t know how boys swim in those baggy pants though–seriously, they wrap around you while you’re trying to kick and stuff, and it’s like swimming with elephant peelings on you or something.

Ah, but I second Sean’s post about bittersweet winter breaks. I’ve been sleeping, earning money, and catching up with all sorts of people…but I think I might be getting sick. Baahhhhhh humbug….
