Telling the RA staff that I was quitting after this semester was harder than I thought, but I was also surprised at how supportive and nice everyone was afterwards. What amazing women.

So, I have a lovely cold and was hoping to get some sleep because sleep is good when you don’t feel well.

Phew, I was in the car too long today. But we made it back! It felt sooo good to get out of here for a few days. Man, I can’t wait for the end of this crazy semester. It wasn’t even meant to be that busy. But next semester should be easier since I won’t have as much “extra” stuff. Who needs it.

Well, I’m off to do some TeXing. Missing Tucson already!

It feels sooo good to be home. I was telling people how homesick I was, but then I realized yesterday I hadn’t seen my family or Tucson for three months, and suddenly the mountains seemed friendlier, my brother funnier, my family warmer. I like being around family. They’re ever so supportive in all the things I do. And of course having Kevin back here is wonderful. We’re going to Kitt Peak today! I’m quite excited.

Feel free to call the cell or my home if you want to meet up. We’ll be here until Sunday morning.

Phew, busy weekend, what with writing a research paper, an RA conference all day Saturday, finishing a web site, a CS assignment, starting a math assignment, finishing some math write-ups, working for Professor Benjamin all afternoon and morning Thursday and Friday, studying for a Spanish test Tuesday, daily exercise, sleep, and food…and it’s 3a now and I still have work to do…

…I’m ready to go home :)

Margarete (at a programming conference): So, which session did you guys attend?
Daniela: Well, Courtney and I were going to go to the program on apathy, but it was cancelled.

In a week I’ll be leaving for home! Jump for joy! Good ol’ Tucson…I wonder how hot it will be compared to Claremont? Kevin’s coming again, too! I’m happy about that.

Speaking of families and crazy holidays, I’ve been getting some silly emails from my family about Secret Santas: (from Eva the Magnificent; Subject heading, Christmas shopping)

Hello siblings (sounds like earthlings, weird),

Well, here comes Christmas - Talya has a brilliant idea. Let’s do a
secret santa sort of thing and not have to buy four different
presents. So you only buy one nice big present for the person you get
(and in theory this present should be worth the combined total of what
you would have spent had you been buying each person a small present,
since let’s all remember we’re each getting only one present from each
person, and we’d all like that present to be something really nice).
So here’s the list:

Eva
Talya
Ernie
Joey
Jimmy

Buy a present for the person below you. Jimmy, buy a present for me.

Now, lest my dear siblings think themselves deprived of cool European
goodies, worry not! You’ll each get a small something from
Deutschland also from Ernie and me (and something for your birthdays
too).

Any questions? Hit reply to all and tell everyone you’re down with
this plan.

Love and kisses,
Eva

Sweet, I’m shopping for Ernie! Hey Ernie, what do you want? :D

I might buy a little mini thing from Claremont for each of yous, we’ll see though :)

Happy shopping!

love ya~

(from Joey; Subject: Re: Christmas Presents)

Hello all,

Well, well, Mr. James St. Clair it looks like you’re getting the best presant of everyone on the list. Now what do you want? Or do I even have to ask (HL2)? Now Ernie, as you know I traditionally am a guitar gizmo guy, (we like Tri-G for sort) but this year, I’ve realized through my first semester that I basically own nothing. The thing that I actually need most is a nice chair for my fraternity. Right now I have one of those POS stools you find thrown behind a dumpster….Literally. I could send a picture if you have any lingering doubts. So, if you could find something nice for a nice price online, you could have it shipped to my fraternity and that would save a lot of hassle. Our address is:
*****
*****

If this request sounds like a bunch of BS, then a Tri-G thing would be cool too. Or some badass movies. You know the ones, with those samurai dudes, re-animators, or funny things happening on the way to forums.
Happy hunting all!

Love the sarcasm, people
-Joey
PS: Eva it only sounds like earthlings because we are the most abnormal group of siblings implying that we’re not of the race.

Hey Homie G’s and Non Homie G’s,
Jimmy is happy and satisified with this idea ! At the time of this letter, I am listening to the Floyd, so I’m feeling a little weird. Anywho, I was wondering what Eva wanted? Maybe a couple digital video disks or CD’s or some sorta thing. Also, what are we doing for da mama and da papa? Dad wants a digital camera, which I know nothing aboot. On a more funny note, I tried to put Talya Balya as one of my contacts and Microsoft yelled at me. They called me a hipster doofis! Well what else do I have to say? Oh yeah i forgot here’s the address to the greatest club to hit CDO since the The Beatles Club. Haha j/k. Seriously I’m president of the poker club and here’s our website, complete with forums. Mr. Quinn is the sponsor if you wanna give a shout out to him. Well, I look forward to seeing all of you this December and Talya this Thanksgiving. It won’t be the same without those Kentucky people here to gobble all the gravy but Kevin will do just fine. Haha j/king Ernie and Eva. Please don’t hurt my meager self. Love ya all. Joey tell that girl I’ll send her bra through FedEx. HAHAHA J/k. Ok ba-bye now.
Love without a penname,
Jimmy St.Clair (The St.Clair that cares, so you don’t have to =)

oh, man…we’re all freaking out over Analysis in here. I feel very screwed, like everyone else, and lost and scared and man oh man, I need to chill out, but it’s just hard when you know you’re fucked no matter what happens. Uggh.

In other news, my count for Incident Reports is up to 4 in the past week! That’s insane!

But I had CS today and Professor Dodds always seems to make the world sound better because he is that awesome. Chris said that Prof. Dodds is the best teacher he’s ever had…I have to say, I’d nearly agree if it wasn’t for Mr. Sabb and Professor Towse.

So, in Art Theory, I don’t know, I always feel very sleepy when that class meets because I usually take a nap around 4:15 and that’s when I have Art Theory. Thus, the second Ken turns off the lights and starts in with the slides of art, I usually…fall asleep. Go me. But today we got back our papers, and I did well on mine, but I was a little confused by his one comment: “Good essay. Thanks. And thanks for your engagement with the course.”

Last night I splurged doing online shopping and bought myself some stuff on Dillards.com…now I can’t wait for my package from them :)

No more duty! I’m freeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Tonight while at dinner with Mandy and Kevin I stepped on Mudd campus and was jumping around singing “I’m not on Scripps, I’m not on Scripps!” Yeah, you would be happy too if you were stuck on the same block of soil for 48 hours. Sheesh, when you’re on duty you can’t even go across the street to the library–you can’t leave Scripps at all.

But yeah, it was a fun weekend at the LHC mocktails and catching up on LOOOTS of sleep. I needed that. That was good.
