July 30, 2005 on 11:43 pm | In Blogger | 1 CommentRight, so Mom and Dad aren’t letting me give up my cell phone ’cause they said something about safety issues…instead Dad took me to trade in my cell phone at the Sprint store today, so at least now I get decent reception. It’s the same number as before; feel free to ask me what it is if you don’t have it.
Countdown Time!

Ah, not fair, all my friends who hardly update their xangas decided to write long entries tonight, and I am too tired to read….oh, well, I promise to read them all soon :)
For those who did not have friends updating long xanga entries, I spotted this on Cypress’s AIM profile and thought it was worth sharing here too. It’s the true story of how Mudders came to kidnap the Caltech cannon back in the day…

July 28, 2005 on 3:52 am | In Blogger | 1 CommentI know some people who are going to laugh at me when they read that a recent study shows that apparently echinacea does jack shit for you during cold season….although there are still some conclusions to be made. Ah, well, I claim the placibo effect :P
I had fun with you guys tonight!

July 27, 2005 on 2:10 am | In Blogger | No CommentsI highly enjoyed this game spotted on delicious yesterday…it’s one of those games where at first you’re like, “wtf?” but as it starts making sense, it’s got a really fun ending once you’ve solved it. Enjoy!

July 26, 2005 on 2:24 am | In Blogger | No CommentsWhat a great idea. I think that hearing is one of those underrated abilities in our hopelessly visual society. Now, a lot of people out there hate me for having 20/15 vision, but I can assure you that although my hearing is normal, I go quite deaf in bar settings and things like that. One of those goldfish devices would be a wonderful thing to have.
Still, I think the idea of hearing aides as “stylish”–like glasses–won’t catch on. You always “hear” people saying, “My, what lovely eyes she has,” but not “My, what lovely ears she has.” Glasses can also take on contact form. So unless the RNID’s design of hearing aides as jewelry is better than the one photographed, I can’t see these devices as a new fad.

July 25, 2005 on 3:05 am | In Blogger | 1 CommentHBP was soo good…still not as good as the first three, but I enjoyed it a lot. A VERY appreciative thank you goes out to everyone who successfully avoided passing me spoilers! I must say, I had a very enjoyable, spoiler-free read this time around, and had a lot of fun unraveling clues and hints for one of my favorite puzzles ever, a good HP book :)
Most of today was spent resting up and speculating on Book 7 with people…Jimmy and I watched The Wall this evening, which was fun; I’m not sure how well he liked it though. I also went on a nice run; it was only 88 degrees outside around 4pm, thanks to the rain we’ve been enjoying. Hopefully the monsoons will keep up until it’s time to leave. Or something like that.

But unfortunately since I was busy with Jimmy’s birthday and work today, I’ll have to start it tomorrow….too tired now. I finished COS too last night, so lucky timing :)
I’ll be keeping my handy notebook by my side again….IM me if you want impressions/notes; I think I’ve bored enough people on this website with HP material lately :P

July 21, 2005 on 12:18 am | In Blogger | No CommentsREMINDER: Although my Harry Potter copy has been shipped on July 15 all the way from Canada, it is NOT here, but is slowly journeying down the Oregon trail, through Colorado, and eventually to my humble door in Tucson, Arizona. I think I will post this every night until my book arrives, unless someone objects. Please don’t spoil the book for me in any way, shape, or form.
And as a sidenote, I really want my copy now! My dad keeps threatening to read it before I do, even though it’s my book and I paid for it….I might have to let him though, if it arrives at a date where he couldn’t finish it before I leave…oii.
I’m reading COS right now, to brush up on some scenes there, since JKR said there would be important themes from COS carried over into HBP. And I am still goggling over the fact that the book is just so much better done than the later books. COS is not nearly as episodic; I’m around page 169, and it’s already Christmas. I just wish JKR didn’t sell out by the time she wrote GOF. Not related to this rant, but I also am writing on an essay about JKR’s depiction of the media in the HP series and how it relates to her selling out-ness…I’ll share upon request, when it’s done.
Well, aside from the fact that they got some chronology mixed up, this is quite funny: dont be a commie. oops too late

Heh, I agree with Ernie tonight on his blog. You have to hand it to Bush, I thought, as I tuned in to see who the justice nominee was. I think we all were expecting to see a close-up of Gonzales’ face but instead glimsped at a young (!), white male at the podium. Roberts really is a smart choice. Not wise choice, mind you, but as no one has heard of him and enough liberals don’t have enough dirt on him, “he’s about the most conservative guy Bush could nominate without igniting a civil war.” I’m interested to see the liberals’ response.
Rain! Rain! These thunder storms have been wonderful these past few days…
Let the rain fall down
everywhere around you
give into it now
let the day surround you
you don’t need a reason
let the rain go on and on…
I always think of those lyrics whenever it rains….
I’m exhausted….I worked maybe 21 hours in the past 2 days, so methinks it’s bedtime…
