You asked for it–Mario pick-up lines!!!

Dammit, I was going to blog about something else, but now I forgot. Oh yeah. So about the topic of PDEs, apparently there are a lot of weird names in PDEs, as I was saying at dinner earlier. This morning, for example, I was reading about Schnakenberg kinetics, Neumann boundaries, and the Helmholtz equation for finding out when the Turing reaction-diffusion equation is stable. Hmm. As always, Turing is the outlier on this one.

New computer! So I guess that’s been most the weekend–setting it up and playing on it. It’s quite fun, although quite distracting from work too (oh ho ho).

This evening has involved playing on Maya, though it’s hard work. I dunno how much longer I should stay up to say I’ve shown substantial work for the week–it’s tricky when you have to pace yourself.

My grandma probably has a few hours or few days to live, which is kinda sad. She can’t speak anymore and her breathing is short. There is now 24 hour hospice care at her house. My mom is there (in Chicago), and so is my Uncle Chuck. She doesn’t want a funeral or anything either, so my mom plans to just fly home after everything. Apparently she spent all weekend talking about the past–her childhood and everything, and reconciling with my mom. And she is very much at peace and ready to make the journey, as she says. I am happy she is peaceful. I always wanted to die old and in my bed, with a few select loved ones around, so I am happy my grandma has that and feels like she led a good life. Makes one hopeful that it is possible to have a beautiful life.

Blah, busy day. But a good day–three hours of listening to art students talk about their art projects, and getting an all-systems-go approval for mine. You can check out the progress at yet another new site, though I warn you, there’s nothing there of interest yet. My Maya pieces are still rather amatuerish-looking, but I do have time to learn it (and it won’t be a huge part of the entire piece).

And it’s raining outside….yay for that.
