Officials Find Drug Tunnel With Surprising Amenities - New York Times
January 26, 2006 on 10:01 pm | In Blogger | No CommentsTo quote Breelan, “now weed is going to get more expensive.” This is quite an engineering feat by drug dealers though…I’m almost sorry it got found for how cool it is. On the other hand, this tunnel is the kind of thing you would expect to see in 007 movies or read about in a history class, so I commend the authorities who found it for doing their jobs.

del banana
January 24, 2006 on 5:04 pm | In Blogger | No CommentsI don’t know why this is so funny to me, but I must share this story right now. So, like most keyboard fiends, I prefer Quicksearches on Firefox to the Search toolbar (the thing on your upper right corner, usually with the Google G by default). To use Quick Searches, you type, for example, “goog ‹search term›″ in the url toolbar of your Firefox browser window. Some of my Quicksearches are from dictionary.com, thesaurus.com, google image search, and google, of course, but there are others. So I configured a Quicksearch term for del.icio.us on my iBook this winter break, but I forgot that I did not do that for my desktop PC. Thus, when I typed “del banana” meaning “search for banana on del.icio.us,” instead of getting this page, I got the other thing Firefox does when you type a search term in your url terms, and that is, it plugs in the “I’m Feeling Lucky” search box on Google. I got the following page.

People’s Daily Online — China to build world’s first “artificial sun” experimental device
January 22, 2006 on 8:04 pm | In Blogger | No CommentsBack to School
January 17, 2006 on 9:10 pm | In Blogger | No CommentsI’ve been back in Claremont since Sunday. I had an amazing time at the Joint Meetings. The poster session went well, and I met some awesome people; I just can’t believe how great it was and am still basking in it. The Riverwalk is beautiful–and I saw the Alamo. Funny story, at that. My math advisor, Chris, was walking around with me after dinner, and I said to him, “so, where the heck is the Alamo? I’ve been seeing all these signs and get the feeling it’s right around here.” Then Chris kind of laughed to himself and said he would take me there. So he was talking my ear off and telling a story and tried to draw it out so that I was facing him and not the street. Then he stopped right in front of the Alamo, turned me around, and there I was, facing it from across the street. I was so surprised, I exclaimed, “holy shit!” and Chris couldn’t stop laughing.
Classes started today, but I only had one morning class. I’m sure by next week, I’ll have a few more things to say on that topic. Phew, I can’t believe it’s our last semester! I’ll be saying that a lot.

Your Harry Potter Alter Ego Is…? |
Destination: San Antonio
January 10, 2006 on 7:57 pm | In Blogger | No CommentsOh, man, I leave Thursday for San Antonio and then to Claremont on Sunday–and I probably won’t be back in Tucson until I’m a college graduate. This break went so fast! But it makes sense, given how busy I was. It was lovely hanging out with everyone when we all got the chance and spending time with the family, too.
I got a haircut today, to shoulder-length hair with layers. Zach said it sounds foxy, which I guess it is, haha. I like it well enough since I was finally getting tired of my long length. Knowing my hair though, it’ll be back to its old self by May. But that’s okay–I’m enjoying it for now.
